At a young age, my parents instilled the importance of giving back to the community. I remember summer volunteer opportunities working at local aid offices sorting clothes and building food bags for those in need. I carried that heart of generosity into my adult years. My love of animals manifested a desire to delve into the realm of protection and welfare. For over a decade, I wore many hats: Animal Care & Control Officer; Vice President of a Kitten rescue; full-time kitten foster; wildlife-rescue cage cleaner; and laundress for the county animal shelter. These roles reinforced my passion for protecting those who could not protect themselves. Over the past couple of years, I had to make several decisions that took me away from what I loved.
